In 2022, residents all over San Antonio and its surrounding cities, or just in Texas, made sure to film almost every wild moment they saw while out – and we thank them. From the random “Thot Patrol” car to the girls who twerked on the highway, we wrote about a lot of interesting moments.

A Texas resident took to Twitter in July to post a video of two women who decided to entertain themselves by “twerking on top” of a car while on the Houston freeway. In more or less bumper-to-bumper traffic, the driver can be seen with one foot in the car and another on the window of the open car door.
Meanwhile, the other woman is spread out on top of the car and twerking with gusto. Inside the car, a person can briefly be seen clapping in encouragement.

The “Thot Patrol” of San Antonio is on the prowl, y’all.

In July, Reddit user u/Strictlybizzy took to the platform to give locals the heads up about the “Thot Patrol.” While in the drive-thru at the Taco Bell location on Culebra Road near Lonestar Parkway, they couldn’t help but snap a few pictures of the head-turning car.
For those not in the know, here’s a quick lesson on the term. Urban Dictionary defines “thot” as a woman who “uses her body in some way to gain attention or some favor from males.” The definition is by all means a tamer way of explaining the term given that some folks would likely use more crass language and be creative with their examples.

A California woman roasted Texas in a TikTok.

Everyone loves roasting Texas on TikTok. It happens a lot. However, no one burned Texas more than Sam Speiller, a California woman who moved to the Lone Star State. She documented the things she learned after living in Texas for a year.
In the video, she said something that is probably speaking to every Texan right now, “You can start sweating when you’re wet from the shower.” She also talked about the deception of that Texas hospitality, and how folks in Texas can use politeness and manners to “rip another person to shreds.” Also, the left is for passing drivers, but so is the right lane if you’re driving too slow in the left lane.

Kim Kardashian recently shared the viral TikTok from a San Antonio Whataburger employee.

In August, Kim Kardashian shared a viral TikTok from a San Antonio Whataburger employee on her Instagram. The reality star loved how Aliza Reynosa, 23, called out everyone who judged her for working at Whataburger.
Reynosa told MySA that nothing really inspired the TikTok video but that she wanted to relay a message that a job is a job. She said she would receive comments sometimes about how others poked fun at her for “just working at Whataburger.” In the video, she said passionately, “I don’t care if I was picking up trash on the side of the road…If I’m getting paid, you can’t tell me nothing.”

A TikToker went viral for his strong opinions about the San Antonio River Walk and other well-known places in Texas. Derek Baiza listed the hangout areas he considers a “red flag,” naming one of the Alamo City’s most touristic sites in a video in August.
Baiza started his list with a place everyone in Texas can agree is a red flag if you regularly hang out there – Sixth Street in Austin. He then mentioned the San Antonio River Walk, which of course we don’t necessarily agree with, and neither did some of his followers and others who left more than 600 comments.

One New Yorker’s experience in the Lone Star State reached viral status after she shared the culture shock she felt after moving to Texas in a short clip on TikTok in September. The video exploded on the video-sharing app with more than 1.3 million views and nearly 214,000 likes.
The quirky 28-year-old math teacher named Ms. Wolf on TikTok wrote in her caption she’ll never get used to being called “mam.” She also brought up that drivers don’t use their blinkers and will cut you off in Texas. Anyone who’s tried to merge onto Loop 1604 can vouch for that.
Additionally, she mentioned how the majority of Texans all drive “unnecessarily” large pick-up trucks (also facts). She wrote, “I have almost died several times” (girl, me too).

In the latest edition of Texans doing things they shouldn’t, a man was spotted clinging on to the back of an H-E-B 18-wheeler.

In November, a man named Miguel Llanas took to Facebook to share the viral video of a Texas resident acting wild.
A 15-second video, which had more than 200,000 views, showed a man clinging on to the back of an 18-wheeler marked with H-E-B’s logo and driving down a Corpus Christi highway. In the post, Llanas said the video shows “Corpus at its finest,” though it definitely gives the same feeling as when those two guys held on to a mattress in the back of a trailer in San Antonio a few years ago.
