Riding on Glenn Maxwell’s scintillating knock, Melbourne Stars registered a morale-boosting seven-wicket victory over Hobart Hurricanes in match 17 of the ongoing Big Bash League. Batting first, the Hurricanes posted a respectable 155-run total in 19.4 overs.

In response, the Stars chased the DLS target in just 6.3 overs, as Maxwell struck 35 runs off 18 deliveries with four gigantic sixes. However, the crowd went awestruck when the veteran all-rounder smashed a magnificent six off Patrick Dooley through a sensational switch hit.

The incident occurred in the fifth over when the Stars were comfortably placed at 52 for three. It was a full delivery from the Hurricanes’ spinner, as Maxwell went down on his knees to play an audacious switch-hit and dispatch the ball into the stands.

The six took the Stars’ total to 58, as they eventually chased the DLS target in the very next over to secure their second win of this season. With four points to their name, the Stars currently occupy the fourth position in the points table.

Up next, Melbourne Stars will take on Adelaide Strikers in the 20th match of the tournament on December 31.
