There’s no doubt that Matt Reeves’ take on the Dark Knight, with its influences from Seven (which fans suspect is a prequel to Batman), The Conversation and Zodiac, was just that: dark . Really dark. So the question arises as to how and where Robin might fit into this world of cold-blooded killers and online cult leaders. Introducing a 13-year-old pal into a world where Batman uses a severed thumb to solve a case would be a wild choice, but perhaps in this dark and deadly serious world, Robin doesn’t have to stray too far from the Nest or Batcave.
When Dick Grayson shows up in The Batman Part II, it might feel safer and more believable for Dick to stay home and watch over, but not participate in, his caretaker’s evening activities. Maybe he could stay here to keep Alfred company and learn more about the man who took him in from the other man who has looked after him all his life. However, as is often the case, these are all hypotheses for a film that has not yet confirmed that anyone other than Robert Pattinson will be part of the cast as Batman. We’ll be able to see for ourselves when The Batman Part II hits theaters on October 3, 2025.
