On the red carpet at the 2022 Emmy Awards on Monday, September 12, Sheryl Lee wowed Ralph, star of sitcom Abbott Elementary, in a stylish strapless black velvet gown with orange trim, but she nearly made a huge fashion mistake when she was wearing the same outfit as another guest.
The comedy actress told the Associated Press, “A designer provided my co-star and I with the identical drawing for the same dress.”
After co-star Lisa Ann Walter gave Ralph a photo of the green, off-the-shoulder, puff-sleeved dress she planned to wear to the awards ceremony, Ralph found out about the issue during filming.
Ralph added: “I didn’t have a dress until about five days ago; I had nothing.” Roberto, the stylish New Yorker, relayed my situation to Brandon Blackwood. Ralph, 65, said Blackwood stepped in and that he was in Japan and made the dress on his voyage across the Pacific.
Instagram posts reveal that the designer, best known for his bags and other small accessories, designed his very first dress for the event.
Fans have praised the team-up, calling it “amazing” and noting that Ralph continues to look stunning.
Her stylist Roberto Johnson also witnessed an event that came full circle, sharing it on his Instagram stories: On the eve of my 15th anniversary of my arrival in the United States, I’m proud to announce that I met an Emmy winner with sarcasm only and sarcasm clothed have a straight face.
