Whether it is losing the respect of a fanbase, frustrating management, or causing heat backstage, people making specific comments can end up causing more problems than they are worth. It is crucial for people to be careful about the things they say, because words can often be just as powerful as actions, as these wrestlers have found out.

10/10 Tommy Dreamer

Not every comment has to take place on a wrestling show to land someone in hot water, and that was the case when Tommy Dreamer appeared on “Dark Side Of The Ring.” He was involved in the episode about the infamous plane ride from hell, which ended up causing a lot of controversies.

Stories about Ric Flair were brought to light in new detail, and it left a negative taste in everyone’s mouths as they watched. While fans were disgusted, Dreamer’s comments were equally as poor as he defended Flair and questioned if the victim should’ve taken things further, which ultimately led to him being suspended by Busted Open Radio and Impact Wrestling.

9/10 Max Caster

The Acclaimed are flying high right now as the AEW Tag Team Champions, and there is no doubt that they have got things going as one of the most popular tag teams in the business. However, there was a period of time before that where Max Caster ended up not being used, as he was put on ice for a comment he made.

His raps on the way to the ring are the reason the team ended up getting over so much, but one line he made during an episode of AEW: Dark led to him not being booked on television for a while due to his comments about Simon Biles’ mental health following her exit from the Olympic Games.

8/10 Sammy Guevara

Sammy Guevara recently cut a promo on AEW Rampage about Eddie Kingston that led to him getting in trouble with his opponent, as he got behind the scenes and ended up in a physical altercation with him. While it was Kingston that ended up suspended because of that, the comments from Guevara got him in hot water.

The Spanish God had taken a shot at Kingston’s weight during his promo to continue their feud, but that was something he took offense to, and didn’t want to be mentioned. The promo ended up being cut from the television taping, and while the issue has been resolved, it was a hot subject at the time.

7/10 Riddle

Riddle has gotten himself into trouble multiple times with his fellow WWE Superstars in recent years by making comments about them. He isn’t someone who holds his thoughts in, and during interviews he has happily trash-talked several great names, frustrating them in the process.

Brock Lesnar and Goldberg are two big examples of legends that he has annoyed with his comments, and it has gotten him into backstage heat at times.

6/10 Jim Cornette

Jim Cornette is never someone who hides from giving his opinion on matters, and that is something that he does on a weekly basis when he is interviewed for his podcast. However, he was given a role by NWA to be part of their commentary table, but it is something he was unable to retain.

The reason for that is because Cornette said, “He’s the only man I know that can strap a bucket of fried chicken on his back and ride a motor scooter across Ethiopia,” when describing Trevor Murdoch, which is a comment that offended many people, and led to NWA cutting ties with him.

5/10 Jerry Lawler

In a similar situation to Jim Cornette, Jerry Lawler also ended up in trouble for a comment he made on commentary which led to him being taken off air. He had been working on Monday Night Raw for a while, with WWE putting its faith in his experience during the pandemic to help the company.

However, when he was speaking about an Akira Tozawa match the WWE Hall Of Famer decided to describe one of his moves as a “Ramen Noodle Moonsault.” It instantly upset people online, with many finding the comment to be racist, which is why he was taken out of that position.

4/10 Jim Ross

Jim Ross is another experienced broadcaster who made a rookie mistake with one of his calls recently. This took place during an episode of AEW Dynamite when some of Anna Jay’s ring gear ended up breaking. JR commented on the situation by asking, “Did Anna Jay have a wardrobe malfunction, or is that wishful thinking in my book?”

Fans instantly began calling out JR as they were not happy with what they heard, finding the comment to be creepy and out of place. While he didn’t get into trouble backstage, the reaction against him was clear and led to him having to issue an apology.

3/10 Eric Bischoff

Eric Bischoff has always been a controversial name in the wrestling world, and he never holds back on giving out his opinion when he is asked. That has led to him complaining about AEW multiple times, and following that he has gone back and forth with Tony Khan online as they have argued about different things.

While Bischoff may claim to not care, he is no longer welcome back in AEW, despite the fact he had made appearances for the promotion. Khan would likely have used him moving forwards, but because of this situation, he ended up losing his spot with the company.

2/10 Top Dolla

While Top Dolla is now back in WWE, it was only earlier this year that he ended up being released from the company alongside the rest of Hit Row. There could have been many reasons for that, but his controversial rap about Jinder Mahal is believed to have caused some tension at the time.

They were feuding on SmackDown when he made a diss track on Twitter about Mahal and Shanky, which many believed to be insensitive at the time, which is why it was deleted.

1/10 CM Punk

The biggest example of a wrestler talking themselves into trouble recently is CM Punk, who decided to unload during the post-All Out 2022 press conference. Despite the fact he’d just become AEW World Champion, Punk went on to put several people on blast, including Colt Cabana, Hangman Adam Page, and The Young Bucks.

His comments were wild, and incredibly rude as he claimed the EVP’s were poor managers. The situation was immediately made even more intense when Punk ended up in a backstage brawl with The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega, which resulted in them all being suspended.
