Inside Demi Lovato’s Friendship With Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato’s friendship was not always as vibrant as it seems these days. In 2008, Cyrus, who was starring on the hit Disney show “Hannah Montana,” made a video mocking Lovato and fellow actor Selena Gomez. Days later, Cyrus apologized for her part in the shady clip, and suggested that she and friend Mandy Jiroux were only “being silly.” “They have, like, a YouTube account, and so at the end of our video we did put ‘Go to their YouTube.’ … We were kind of supporting their channel, but also being silly because they were being funny, and that’s our thing — to be funny,” Cyrus said in a statement to Popstar Magazine (via MTV). “Elvis says, ‘Imitation is the greatest form of flattery,’ so we were imitating them being funny,” the “Can’t Be Tamed” singer added.

And while some believed that Cyrus and Lovato continued feuding throughout their years with Disney Channel, Cyrus shut down those rumors in 2019. “I grew up collaborating with Demi [Lovato] and Selena [Gomez]. There was never any competition,” Cyrus declared during an appearance on Capital FM’s “Capital Breakfast.”
